Silver Jubilee of 9th Battalion of Brigade of the Guards - Heroes of Sylhet

9th Battalion of the 'Brigade of The Guards' famously known as the 'Heroes of Sylhet' celebrated its 'Golden Jubilee' of raising at Jaisalmer Cantonment .

The battalion was raised at Kota on April 1, 1964, the unit participated in the Indo-Pak War of 1971 and captured the dominating enemy bastion of 'SYLHET' in East Pakistan.  For this gallant action, the Battalion was bestowed with 'Battle Honour Sylhet' and 'Theatre Honour East Pakistan-1971'.  The battalion boasts of one 'Kirti Chakra', two 'Veer Chakra', two 'Shaurya Chakra', eight 'Sena Medal', and one 'Mention-in-Despatches.
